Texas HB No. 274 Omnibus Tort Reform Bill Passes
Dallas Civil litigation attorney Mark Nacol says that under new legislation passed by the Texas legislature, the Texas Supreme Court has been directed to adopt new rules to address the high costs and long time periods affecting lawsuits involving damages of $100,000.00 or less. The new law appears to create a new class of law suits under the title of “Expedited Civil Actions.”
Texas SB785: Termination of Parent-Child Relationship due to Mistaken Paternity
Dallas paternity and divorce attorney, Mark Nacol, says Texas has a new law, Texas SB785, which permits men who have been ordered to pay child support, without genetic testing, to request genetic testing in order to determine whether they are the genetic parent of the child. But the clock is ticking. If you suspect that you are paying child support for a child who is not your biological child, you must file the petition before September 1, 2012.
