Thank you for an excellent article about a topic that needs more attention -- the alienating parent's abuse of restraining orders as a way to keep a loving parent away from his or her child.

Sadly, alienating parents understand that time is the best weapon in the alienation campaign. Exploiting the slow turning wheels of justice and the courts natural inclination to err on the side of the child's safety is an excellent way to ensure that the only messages a child hears, the only love and security a child receives, over an extended period of time is from the alienating parent. This is usually more than enough time to damage, and in some cases destroy, the previously loving, healthy bond between the child and the child's other parent.

Educating legal and mental health professionals about parental alienation is essential so these professionals can tell the difference between legitimate parental alienation and false allegations of abuse and vice versa. Then, and only then, will judges be able to make informed rulings that are truly in the child's best interests.

Sincerely,
